NWSPCA
The NWSPCA is a not for profit organisation and a dedicated animal charity, based in Ballina, County Mayo.
The Charity is run entirely by volunteers who give their time to provide services such as rescuing and rehabilitating abandoned or neglected animals.
We also take in unwanted animals and provide veterinary care and shelter for them until they go to their new homes.
Our cat team also Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) community cats in the Mayo region and beyond.
We have two Charity Shops which provide us with essential funds to continue the work that we do. The shops are in Ballina and Castlebar.
Since our inception in 2001 we have helped more than 120,000 animals thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and the support and help that we receive from the general public.
We are supported by The Department of Agriculture, Food and The Marine. Awarded the Animal Welfare Grant in December 2022 of 59,800 Euros and in December 2023 an amount of 55,800 Euros.
Our Goals
Our ultimate goal is to eradicate the cruelty and abuse of animals and to ensure their wellbeing and protection.
Our primary objective is to rescue, rehabilitate and provide loving homes for vulnerable animals thus ensuring they get the love and care they deserve.
We strive to promote responsible pet ownership, especially by emphasising the importance of humane treatment, vaccination, spaying/neutering, etc.
Together with other organisations we are working towards longer term solutions regarding the care and rights of animals.
